It wasn't the start to the regular season the Estevan Midget AA Bruins were looking for, rather, it's one they're quite willing to put behind them.

After a perfect preseason run, a rapid turnaround placed them in a weekend of back to back games against two Notre Dame teams. On Saturday they faced the Argos and came up with a 6-3 loss, and Sunday saw them fall 4-1 to the Hounds.

"In the first game there, on Saturday, I thought we were a little sloppy at times, made some uncharacteristic mistakes which led to some goals against. We were right in it going into the third, but we kind of let it get away from us. A couple of undisciplined penalties cost us some goals," said Head Coach Riley Hengen.

"On Sunday, I thought we cleaned that up a little bit. We played better defensively. We got behind early there, but we made a good charge to make a comeback, we just couldn't the back of the net."

He noted that it's a weekend from which they'll simply move on. The quick turnaround, which only had time for one team practice leading up, made things tough. However, progress was seen between the first and second games.

The Midget Bruins are now 0-2 on the season and back in action on Saturday, when they take on the Weyburn Wings in Estevan.
