The Midget AA Apex Bruins get stay alive for yet another 60 minutes in the first round of playoff action, salvaging an 0-2 series with two strong wins over the weekend.

After falling to the Swift Current Broncos 2-1 and 4-2, they came back on Friday with a 3-1 victory and then came from behind to stun the Broncos again on Saturday 5-2.

Down 1-0 at the end of the first frame, and 2-0 just seven minutes later, Daymon Wanner put Estevan on the board 3 minutes later, while Joey Meredith netted the first of the pair he would score. He spectacularly opened the third frame for the Bruins seven minutes in, followed by Zach Ashworth with just two left on the clock. Jaiden Gervais then fired a long shot for an empty netter to close the game.

"I don't think our first (period) was terrible. They scored a goal and we got a little bit on our heels, and kind of started to panic a wee little bit. We just got to intermission to regroup and come out and give a big push in the second," said Coach Robin Ulrich.

"Kudos to the boys. We got down 2-0 there, and that didn't really change too much. They kept pushing and found a way to battle back."

However, the margin would have been a bit smaller on the scoreboard hadn't a singularly lucky bounce found it's way behind Swift Current's goaltender near the end of the second frame, essentially falling from the sky for Joey Meredith.

"I'd seen it go up, I was watching it and I thought it was going to land behind the net, and all of a sudden it was just in the net," he said, adding that he'd never had such an occurrence happen to him before.

"Every once in awhile, there's always a wonky bounce that you see in hockey. We got a couple of them this weekend in our own barn, we went on the road there and we had a couple bounces go their way, we get back to our rink and get a couple that go our way. I think, in the game of hockey, everything ends up balancing out," Ulrich noted.

The Bruins have one more match against the Broncos, where the true series winner will be crowned and proceed to the next round of playoffs. The Coach shared that there would be a couple of thoughts the boys will take with them, returning to Swift Current.

"Just confidence in ourselves, and knowing that we have the ability to do that. I thought that game one could have gone either way, game two we didn't play great, and just having that confidence in ourselves that we can play with these guys and score goals against them."

Estevan hits the road to Swift Current on Tuesday for a 7:45 puck drop against the Broncos to decide the series.
