The Midget AA Estevan Power Tech Bear Cats cruised past the Parkland Lions in a dominating performance during their opening round playoff series.

In game one it was Marci Leblanc who would open the scoring for the Bear Cats. Morgan Haygarth would double the Bear Cats lead late in the second period, before the Lions would score to make it 2-1.

Estevan would hold onto the 2-1 lead and win the game, with goaltender Morgan Fayle stopping 23 of 24 shots.

In game two on Saturday night, it was Estevan once again who would come away with the victory as they shut out the Lions 5-0.

"The girls played a very good team game, it was two solid sixty-minute efforts," explained Head Coach, Trevor Morrison. "It's going to be a good tight series with the Capitals."

The win sets the Bear Cats up for a round two match up with the Regina Capitals, who they split the season series with at two games a piece.

A longer break between games will take place with five girls playing in the Saskatchewan Winter Games, the second round gets underway in Regina on Friday, March 2nd.
