On August 20, the Estevan Bruins had just one 20-year-old forward on their roster. By the end of the day, however, they had one more thanks to a former Bruin making a long-awaited return.

Estevan acquired the rights to Regina-native Turner Ripplinger via trade with the MJHL's Portage Terriers on Monday night. Ripplinger began his junior-A career in Estevan in 2014-15 but played just one game here before moving out to the BCHL's Penticton Vees.

Ripplinger didn't score much in Penticton as a younger player, but he did earn the Robert Skinner Courage Award. He took his feisty style of play to Portage last year and blossomed, posting 17 goals and 32 assists in 57 games, while racking up 134 penalty minutes and being named the team's top defensive forward.

Ripplinger also earned their Community Spirit Award for his work with the people of Portage. In the playoffs, he posted five points in six games and was named the team playoff MVP.

Ripplinger becomes the sixth 20 year old skater on the Bruins roster. He is the second forward along with Michael McChesney.
