The Saskatchewan Roughriders have kicked off 2018 with a bang.

The Green and White swung a trade on Wednesday morning, acquiring international quarterback Zach Collaros from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in exchange for a second round pick (10th overall) in the 2018 CFL Draft.

Collaros was the Ti-Cats’ nominee for Most Outstanding Player in 2014 and 2015, but couldn’t find that form this past season when he played in just nine games, throwing for 1,767 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.

During his four seasons in Hamilton, the 29-year-old threw for 11,342 yards with 66 touchdowns, while starting 43-of-53 regular season games. He also started two playoff games and the 2014 Grey Cup.

Collaros has one Grey Cup ring from the 2012 season as a back-up with the Toronto Argonauts.

The Riders now have Collaros, Brandon Bridge, Kevin Glenn and Vernon Adams Jr. under contract for the 2018 season.

Free agency opens in the CFL on Feb. 13.
