The Estevan Junior Roller Derby Club held their first game at the new Kinsmen and Kinettes permanent outdoor rink in front of a large crowd.

Among the many onlookers, were members of the Kinsmen and Kinettes whose fundraising efforts made the rink a reality.

"It's awesome, it's great," said Corey Mclean, President of the Estevan Kinsmen Club. "It's going to be awesome for the community. It's great for the city."

Watching the roller derby team use the rink was especially nice since it was the group who had asked the KinClubs to alter their plans to accommodate their track size. Mclean stated that it was worth the extra money seeing the roller derby players being able to use the rink.

The rink is already getting plenty of use by local children who have come to play, draw chalk pictures and otherwise use the rink as a playing surface.

"That's what it's all about," said Mclean, "For everyone in the city to use. There'll be basketball, and obviously there'll be hockey in the winter."
