The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey Leagues annual general meetings wrapped up in Nipawin on the weekend with a few items worth noting.

Six rounds of the SJHL Bantam draft took place with the Bruins selecting six forwards and one goalie.

As it was announced previous to the AGM, the Western Canada Cup was dissolved in favor of the Anavet Cup format, which will see the SJHL champions battle with the MJHL(Manitoba Junior Hockey League) champions in a best of 7 series with the winner moving on to the RBC Cup.

Starting next season, there will be more games with a four-person officiating crew. It's noted to be a 15% increase compared to last season.

For the most part, the league schedule was completed during meetings, but wont be finalized and released until the first week of July. The season is set to kick off on September 14th.

The annual showcase in Warman will take place September 24-27. Two "young prospects" games will get the showcase started with midget aged players taking part in that.

Last but not least, a change for the 2018-2019 season will see home teams wear their dark jerseys.
