The Southeast A's can put the competitive bats away for the year, as their run came to an end over the weekend during provincials in Regina.

It all got off to a rough start on Friday, as they were pummeled by the Swift Current 57's 25-3, then by the Regina Pacers by a 17-6 count. They found their first win on Saturday, a 16-2 decision over the Saskatoon A's before falling 11-4 to the Saskatoon Blue Jays. They managed to win their final game 8-3 over the Pacers.

The tournament 2-3 record kept them out of contention for the final games.

"We had good momentum from the league playoffs, knocking off Swift Current. (Then) we played them first in provincials, and that was kind of a tough go right off the bat. We had some good teams that we played in our pool, and it's tough because you have to win four games to make it to Sunday, and we didn't quite do that," said Head Coach Trent Dorrance.

"Saturday we played much better than we did on Friday, and if we would have had that first momentum on Friday, things could have been much different."

He added that, despite the lack of success, errors in play were few among the boys.

"We hit the ball well, we just didn't hit the holes. It was just kind of the 'baseball gods' not letting us get to where we wanted to, I guess. But overall, the boys played well enough that they're happy with their play."
