It was a successful first day of action for three Carnduff boys, competing with Team Sask at the U13 National Championships in Woodstock, Ontario.

Callum Hollinger hit a triple, in addition to pitching two strong innings, but it wasn't quite enough to overcome the Quebec Blue and they fell 9-4.

Game two, however, was a different story. Aiden Trimble spent four innings on the mound and only allowed one run, while Hollinger stood in right field. In a walk-off victory, Carter Beck caught the game for Sask, 5-4 over Nova Scotia.

The Trio will next face the hosting Woodstock team at 4:00 PM central time.

Meanwhile Kipling's Kaiden Lyons and the U15 Team Sask squad forced both opponents to bow to them on day one.

They kept Newfoundland and Labrador from reaching home plate for a 10-0 mercy victory, then dominated Manitoba to a mercied 14-4 win.

Then on Friday morning, they played an errorless game to defeat Alberta 8-1 to advance to 3-0.

Lyons and Sask next face Nova Scotia at 11:30 central time on Friday.
