Three hockey players from the southeast are looking to put their best skate forward and make a good impression as NHL Rookie events get underway over the weekend.
Montreal Canadians prospects Cole Fonstad and Cale Fleury are both taking part in the Rookie Showdown. Practice started on Thursday, with the first game set for Friday evening.
18 year old Fonstad was selected by the Canadians in the 5th round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, 128th overall. Fleury was drafted 87th overall by the Canadians in 2017.

Meanwhile, Tanner Jeannot joins the Nashville Predators for their Rookie Showcase over the weekend. Practice started Thursday, and then the team departs for Florida on Friday for their first prospects game on Saturday.
Jeannot signed a three year, entry level contract with the Predators earlier this year.
