Oxbow Huskies (8) vs. Kipling/Windthorst Oil Kings (9)

Starting off in Kipling, the Oil Kings looked to break into the playoffs in their first season in the Big Six, meaning they'd have two games to take down the Oxbow Huskies.

In the first game, the Huskies would only send 10 players up north, including missing their leading scorer in the regular season Taysen Hot, and they paid for it when Kipling beat them 5-3, the first time the Oil Kings finished a sixty minute game ahead of the Huskies out of three meetings.

In the second round in Oxbow, the Huskies had a few more guys on the bench in a Friday night effort, but the Oil Kings brought their A-game as the teams traded blow for blow to a tie 5-5 score, making the season 10-8 in favour of the Oil Kings.

The Oil Kings got scoring from all over, 6 different scorers out of their ten goals in two games, the leader out of them being Cayley Bjork who potted three for his team. The Oil Kings also split time in net between Trustyn McKay and Austin Toth, with McKay having the better night of the two when he started at home and stopped 32 of 35 shots.

The Oil Kings now set a date with the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings in the first round of the playoffs in a best of five series. Game on goes in Yellow Grass on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 8:15.

Wawota Flyers (7) vs. Arcola/Kisbey Combines (10)

The Arcola/Kisbey Combines had not managed to win a game in their season and were in tough against the Wawota Flyers, although they did get a bit of a boost coming into the series thanks to a five game suspension to Wawota's starting goaltender Guilliame Blouin, who missed the first game of the series in his last game on said suspension.

That would not be the boost the Combines needed in game one in Arcola, as they would drop a rough 11-5 decision. They Flyers spread the scoring around frequently, scoring their first seven goals in the first period and a half, all before the Combines could score their first.

Then in Wawota, the Combines would put together a tougher effort defensively but it still would not be enough. Blouin returned to the lineup and looked a touch rusty after not playing for a few weeks, but his offence still managed to put up an 8-5 score, giving Wawota the win with a 19-10 two game total point win.

Twelve players scored for the Flyers in the survivor series, with Ryan Taylor scoring 4 goals, two in each, to help blaze his team past the Combines. The Flyers will now face off with the Redvers Rockets, who put five goals into the Flyers net in both games this regular season, although the Flyers kept the first of those two meetings tight.

Full playoff previews coming soon.
