The 2018 SaskTel Tankard Championship match featured undefeated Colton Flasch against former teammate Steve Laycock. Flasch spent the past several years as the Second with Team Laycock and played his former team for the first time ever with the Tankard title on the line.

COLTON FLASCH (Saskatoon Nutana) vs STEVE LAYCOCK (Saskatoon Nutana)

9-7 Laycock

Laycock steals one to open the game up 1-0 in the 1st end, however Flasch responds with a draw for two to take a 2-1 lead after the 2nd end.

After blanks in the 3rd and 4th ends, Laycock's patience paid off. Flasch's rubbed off a rock on his final shot which left the house open for Matt Dunstone to draw for a 5-ender, giving Laycock at 6-2 lead after the 5th end.

In the next end, Flasch attempted a double-takeout for three but narrowly missed settling for one. Laycock led 6-3 after the 6th end and added to it even further with two in the 7th end to go up 8-3.

Flasch scored a double in the 8th to make it 8-5, and then made it a one point game with a steal of two in the 9th to make it 8-7.

However, Matt Dunstone's final hit-and-stick in the 10th finally sealed the victory for Steve Laycock in a 9-7 win.

Laycock's rink will represent Saskatchewan at the 2018 Tim Hortons' Brier in Regina from March 3rd-11th.
