ECS Elecs senior girls basketball point guard Tatiana Dutka will be heading to Medicine Hat in the fall after accepting a scholarship to play for the Rattlers in the Alberta College Athletic Conference.

The now Grade 12 student from ECS made the senior team as a Grade 9 and has continued to improve and get noticed with her strong play. After attending a camp in Medicine Hat, Dutka was delivered some news she wasn't expecting.

"Over the Christmas break I was in Medicine Hat and I got an offer from their Coach to play on the Rattlers basketball team next year while I go to school. I was super excited, he actually told me in person and I didn't know what to say becuase I wasn't expecting it."

Dutka will have a familiar face in the line up next year on the Rattlers, as one of her former teammates from ECS suits up for Medicine Hat.

"Kristen Skjonsby's playing in Medicine Hat right now, so I'm really looking forward to getting to play with her again and just to experience the next level of basketball."

And as for her future plans, Dutka see's herself getting into teaching.

"I'm going for education to become a teacher and I'll have to transfer to university in a couple years to finish my degree."

Tatiana Dutka and the ECS Elecs have a busy couple weeks ahead as the McLeod Series gets underway in Estevan on Tuesday, February 6th at 5:30 p.m.
