Curling in Estevan continues to grow among our youth, as Team Green traveled this weekend to test their skills against some other youth in our province.

Pauline Ziehl-Grimsrud was able to take the team, "This past weekend I took Team Green from the ECS school, it's a mixed team, we went up to Yorkton for regionals. We were up for practice and we played the Yorkton HIgh School mixed team, Friday afternoon. We, unfortunately, lost to them, it was a pretty good game for most of it." Pauline goes on to say, "That evening we went on to play the Whitewood mixed team, and we had a very close game. It came down to the 8th end, their skip had to make a good shot and he did, and we were unable to respond to it. So we had a really good game against them, and it is a double knock out so after two losses we were eliminated from the competition."

With the continued growth of the club, Pauline adds, "This season has just been a remarkable year for youth curling, the high school teams have grown so much. They have shown their character on and off the ice and I am just so pleased with the growth and understanding of the game. We've had a lot of wins, some hard-fought battles, and I am really happy with how the program went this year."

"This weekend we are having our Annual Funspiel, we are still taking teams and we have lots of prizes." The action continues at the club, "We'll be having a nice supper on Saturday, and we're just looking forward to a relaxing weekend with some good curling."

Ziehl-Grimsrud was happy to announce, "I just got off the phone with CurlSask and we have just been selected as one of the places for the Affinity Curling in the Community Clinic, we've been very fortunate to have been selected the past number of years and that will be on March 15th. And we are going to incorporate that into our fun drop-in night also. We will have an instructor come down from CurlSask, so those that want to get in on the instruction that night are more than welcome to join us, there is no fee. And we will be doing our steak supper that night, so if your thinking you would like the steak supper, you will have to pre-order it. If you just want to phone the club and I will look after that for them."

"We're so fortunate that we have lots going on," as Pauline is looking forward to the end of the season.
