After his best and final year in junior hockey on the back end with the Estevan Bruins, Jake Tesarowski has made a commitment to the University of Victoria Vikes hockey program.

The 21-year-old Regina native started off his junior career with the Regina Pat Canadians in the 2013-14, he moved around a few different leagues before returning to the SJHL with the Melville Millionaires in 2015-16. He then played down below the border play with the Brookins Blizzard in the NAHL, but after having a bit of a hard time finding the score sheet, he he finally made his way back to Estevan in November, and he never missed a single regular season game. Thanks to his trip around a few different leagues, Tesarowski has a few connections to the team he's joining.

"I'm actually going to be living with a guy I played with in Melville in my first year of junior hockey, he's from out there and he's been (playing) there for a couple years now and it'll be an easier transition for sure."

Even with only playing with two players on the team, Tesarowski doesn't seem to worried about building the chemistry with his new team.

"I thought I'd know a couple more guys, but from seeing the email list I don't, but I'm sure once you start talking to guys it gets a little clearer. Hockey's a pretty small world."

While Division I hockey was the spot that Tesarowski was hoping to land, he says that Victoria and the BCIHL was just as enticing for a young hockey player.

"If I couldn't (make Division I), I was looking to stay in Canada and honestly the great thing with UVic is just the location and the quality of school and obviously being able to play hockey and being able to compete with teammates is an added perk."

In 37 games with the Bruins in his final year, he potted 5 goals, 17 assists, and a total of 22 points, and he added another 3 assists to his point totals in the playoffs in 12 games.

Tesarowski and Hayden Guilderson joins three other SJHL alumni witht he Vikes in Logan Nachtegaele, Liam Shaw, and after a rivalry with Kindersley Klippers this year, forward Eddie MayThe two will be joining a blue-and-gold squad that lost in the semi-final of the BCIHL Championship to the Champion Trinity Western University Spartans.
