The Estevan TS&M Bruins went back and forth with the Saskatoon Maniacs on Saturday night but would come up short in their home opener, losing 4-3.

Turner McMillen opened the scoring for the Bruins just 3:50 into the first period before Oakley Rose would respond for the Maniacs to knot things up at one to end the period.

The Bruins got on the board in the second period with a goal from Kaden Chrest, to go up 2-1 midway through the frame. Saskatoon would answer back with a pair of goals from Nathaniel Bentham and Oakley Rose to close out the second period with a 3-2 lead for the Maniacs.

Kaden Chrest would get his second of the night for the Bruins, this time on the power play to tie things up at 3-3. With under 38 seconds left in the third period, Nathaniel Bentham would get his second of the night for the Maniacs to close out a 4-3 win for the Maniacs.

Bruins goalie Zane Winter had a stellar performance stopping 53 of 57 shots in the loss. The Bruins managed to get 35 shots of their own on net.

On Sunday afternoon it was a different story for the Bruins. The Wolfpack stormed out to a 5-0 lead after the first period and never looked back.

In the second period the Wolfpack added three goals in four minute to extend their lead to 8-0 heading into the third period. Northeast would add a pair in the third to finish off the Bruins 10-0.

Now 1-2 on the season, the Bruins will welcome the Saskatoon Generals to Affinity Place on Saturday, October 8th.
