It was a successful Saturday afternoon for the Southeast AAA Twins in Yorkton, as they picked up a pair of wins against the Parkland Expos.

In the first game, the Twins came away with a 9-3 win. The Expos led the game 3-1 heading into the sixth inning when the Twins opened up the scoring. With bases loaded, they scored seven runs on just one hit, while also taking advantage of two errors by the Expos.

"Pitching and defense were a big factor in the games," Twins Head Coach Blaine Kovach said of his teams play on Saturday. "It feels like were getting out of that slump we fell into."

In the second game, the Twins spread the scoring out through all seven innings and took advantage of a complete game on the mound from Rhett Nikolejsin for the 8-3 win.

Nikolejsin struck out six over the seven innings, allowing two earned runs. Adding to the performance was Luke Niemegeers recording three stolen bases for seven on the season.

On Sunday afternoon the Twins welcomed the Regina Wolfpack to Lynne Prime Park for a doubleheader, with each team taking one game.

In the early game, the Wolfpack built up a quick 8-0 lead. On the mound for Regina, Brian SO had a career game as he threw a no-hitter, shutting down the Twins line up. The Wolfpack forced the game to be called under the mercy rule, with an 11-0 final.

In the second game, the Twins looked to steer themselves in the right direction.

On the mound, Luke Niemegeers pitched five innings, before making way for Evan McClarty, who tossed the final inning. Thanks to the 10 run lead, the game was called after the sixth as the Twins won 12-2.

"Luke pitched a great game," Kovach said. "Our bats came alive and it was a big difference from the first game."

The Twins now sit at 9-10 in the standings with a big opportunity coming this weekend.

It will be a busy Canada day weekend as the Twins are off to Saskatoon for double headers against the Cubs and Dbacks.
