After stellar season runs, Estevan Lacrosse wrapped the year up by hosting the Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association provincials in the Energy City, where the Voltz showed their grit and hung on for a strong finish.

The Bantam Voltz won three games and lost two, gaining for themselves a gold medal on the B side of the tournament. After falling in game one of round robin play, 7-5 to the Saskatoon Tropics and then 6-5 to the Moose Jaw Mustangs, they bounced back from 0-2 to beat the Prince Albert Predators 8-7. An 8-1 victory over the Yorkton Fighting Pikes soon followed, and they finished with a 12-3 win for the gold over the Saskatoon Forgotten Rebels.

"We were pretty excited to be in the provincials to start with, and to win the B side gold wasn't our main goal but...(we) set our new goal and went through and were able to win it," shared Manager Blaine Chrest.

Starting 0-2 and winning the next three, he noted that the momentum switch came early on Saturday.

"We had one of our smaller players make a play, make a big hit in the game against Prince Albert that we were down in. It really seemed to energize the kids, and from that point on, we really took over and started to play like we could."

Meanwhile, the Peewee Voltz won two and lost three, to settle for silver on their B side. Beating the Yorkton Fighting Pikes 14-4 in game one, they then fell to the Regina Outlaws 11-1. The next day they suffered an 8-2 defeat at the hands of the Swift Current Rampage before going on to beat the Weyburn Thrashers 5-1. They would finish B side second, 9-3 against the Saskatoon Quikstix.

"We ended up with a 2-3 record, but I believe we played better than our record. We beat the teams we should have beat and competed very well, and were competitive in the other two games even though one was a little bit of a blowout," said Head Coach Trevor McNabb.

"The final was unbelievable, the way the kids played. We took the Saskatoon team to an overtime period, 3-3. We had lots of penalty problems, it was a rough game, and it was great to take them to an extra period but just too bad we couldn't pull it off."
