The Southeast AAA Twins came up short in defending their tournament title over the weekend in Saskatoon. Going 1-1-2 in tournament play, Head Coach Blaine Kovach notes he can take certain things out of the weekends tournament and learn from them.

"It was a bit of a learning experience. Some of the first year guys really got to see what they're up against for the rest of the season."

Although the Twins didn't see the results they had hoped for, one important thing Kovach took away from the tournament, was the opportunity for the team to bond and get to know each other better.

"The guys spent a lot of time together this weekend. If it wasn't at the ball diamond, they were doing stuff outside of baseball together," explained Kovach, "Some of the boys went through an escape room. It's a good time to do stuff like that."

Players were on the radar of scouts in Saskatoon and will continue to be looked at for The Canada Cup team that will be selected to play in the Summer Games.

After a poor defensive performance in back to back losses against the Saskatoon Giants in league play earlier this month, the Twins can make up some ground this weekend in a two game set on Saturday and Sunday.

"If we play like we did in the tournament against the Wolfpack this coming weekend, we can take two from them for sure," explains Kovach of his expectations for this Saturdays games against Regina.

The Twins will be back in Estevan at Lynne Prime Park for a double header on Sunday, against the Athletics.

"In my mind, we can be an 8-3 team after this weekend. We just have to play at the high level I know we can play to."

Kovach praised the teams hitting and pitching so far this season, noting that eliminating errors will make the difference from being a decent team to a great team.
