Although they were never able to defeat the Wheat Kings in the regular season, the Carnduff Red Devils were the team that had played each and every game up to this point as a one-goal game. A double overtime marathon in Carnduff ended in disappointment thanks to the Tucker Neuberger of the Wheat Kings, meaning Carnduff had their backs against the wall in game three.

As for the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings, they were exactly where they wanted to be. Up two games to none in the series after wearing out a team that is not only playing in the playoffs but still has a provincial series to carry out, in a rink that they had not lost a single game in all year long.

To start the game, the Red Devils looked like the amount of hockey they were playing was starting to catch up to them. After winning the faceoff and bringing the puck into the Wheat Kings end, Tucker Neuberger would scoop up control for the Wheat Kings and start a 2-on-2 rush with the league's leading scorer Devon Cobbold, and Neuberger would send a picture-perfect pass to Cobbold to give him a partial break. Cobbold would fake the shot on his forehand and move to the back, in tight between a defender and goaltender Cody Dumaine, and tuck it into the net for a beautiful first goal of the game just 1:01 into the game.

After that, some slow play for the Red Devils would start to frustrate their team and soon they'd be left short-handed. On the powerplay, Cobbold would again find the puck on his stick while behind the net, and his centering pass found Mike Onstad in front, who tapped in the easiest of one time goals.

Before the period could end, another pass from behind the Red Devils net would get bounced off a leg, off the goalie, off the post, kicked off the back of the goaltender, then finally to the back of the net when Troy Miller hacked at the puck to tap in the final goal of the period.

After 1: 3-0 Yellow Grass

The Red Devils needed momentum to start soon, and they would come into the second period like a team ready to play. Back and forth action would go up and down the ice before Brandon Trask would find a rebound of his own on his stick, which he tapped behind Tanner Erickson to break the ice for Carnduff.

The Wheat Kings would not take to that lightly, and soon Onstad would get his second of the game to regain the three-goal lead, and Tucker Neuberger would expand on it. Almost an identical play to the first goal of the game, except Neuberger would take it around the defender himself to tuck in the forehand-backhand tuck.

Down by four now, Carnduff needed a bounce. Shot after shot was getting blocked or absorbed with no rebound until finally, the Red Devils did get their break. Off the draw, defenseman Tanner Reynolds would get the puck gifted to him on his stick at the blue line, and his shot would flutter clean through everyone until it hit the back of the net.

Now starting to build some momentum, the Red Devils would get another little piece of luck on a three on one when Cody Moore brought the puck down the left side of the ice and shot towards the inside pad of Erickson to try for a rebound, but instead hit defender Zach Watson's stick, and since Erickson already had the pad kicked out, he could watch the fluttering tipped shot slide right between his legs.

After 2: 5-3 Yellow Grass

The Red Devils would continue to roll into the period, especially in the last five minutes. With only a minute-forty-two left on the clock, Moore would score on a juicy fat rebound from Mark Moriarty's shot to pull the Red Devils back to within one of the game.

The Red Devils attack became more relentless and ruthless as the period grew closer to its end, even getting the odd favourable call too, but Cody Dumaine would be forced to leave the net with a minute-thirty-two left. The Red Devils could not get any more passed the Wheat Kings, and the game would end with the puck tied up against the wall between feet.

FINAL SCORE: Yellow Grass 5 - 4 Carnduff, The Yellow Grass Wheat Kings are Big Six Champions

The Wheat Kings managed to stave off the attack at the end of the game thanks to some spectacular work in net, although Dumaine at the other end was no slouch either. The tandem of Dumaine and his backup Adrian Rubeniuk both stood #1 and #2 in goals-against average.

Devon Cobbold's 11 goals and 8 assists give him the league lead in both goals and points to help his team passed the Oil Kings, Coalers, and now the Red Devils.

The Red Devils and Wheat Kings scored a total of 10 goals and 14 respectively in the series, meaning every game was decided by only a single goal with an empty netter in game one.

Tanner Erickson's numbers took a bit of a hit in the series in Bienfait, especially in game 4 against the Coalers in the 5-3 loss that extended the series to 5 games.

Out of 19 total games played in the Yellow Grass Communiplex, only one game lost and only on a technicality. They lost 7-2 to Milestone as part of a two game total point series in provincial A action. But when it comes to Big Six opponents, the Wheat Kings were dominant. The only teams that played a game in the Yellow Grass rink that were even close were Bienfait and Carnduff, who both lost by one goal when visiting the league's toughest barn to play in.
