As the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club complete the 18 hole for 2017, they look back to a very busy and successful year on the green, as the eyes of the province and the country were often on the local turf.

"It was a great year to be a golfer," stated Head Pro Amanda Minchin, "There wasn't a lot of rain, so lots of opportunity to play golf, though I think our superintendent some days wished that it would have rained a bit more."

A couple of large scale events were held, including the Oilmen's tournament in June, the CN Future Links junior competition in July where kids from across western Canada came to play, as well as the Frametech classic in August, a flagship for the Club.

"We had a full spiel for the first time in a lot time," she said of the latter, "120 players."

"We believe it was a very successful year. We were very busy with all our new members joining us, as well as long term, and we hosted a lot of tournaments. We had a couple of new tournaments, such as the Dustin Pratt Memorial."

Swinging for the new year, Minchin said that their objective is to get bigger and better.

"Our team's going to get together in the new year and come up with a new strategic goal, and we just want to provide a great facility, a great golf course and a great product for our members and the city of Estevan."

"We've done some more work on our cart paths in the fall here, so we're hoping that people will take notice of that when they come back in the spring," she added.
