Thursday night marked the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club's Annual General Meeting for 2018, and if last year was any indication of what to expect this year, then 2018 should be another year of growth.

"We've reduced our debt and our cash situation is higher than it was last year, so we're very pleased with how the season went," says Jeff Ward, President of the club.

While some of the numbers in the books show that the club suffered a loss in profits this year, taking a look at the financial report shows that not only does the course have more cash to work with this year, they've also taken a chunk out of their debt as well. Much of this can be attributed to some of their events they hosted last year.

"We had the Canadian Future Links Junior Program which is a national tournament for many provinces that came in which is great to showcase our course and even if it doesn't provide a whole bunch of revenue at that point, it does showcase our facility and we do have people that come back here year after year after they've come to play."

One of the welcome changes coming into this season is the addition of Amanda Minchin as the General Manager of the club. She recieved her CPGA card in 2009 and has been the head pro at Woodlawn for many of those years. Minchin's had a major focus on engaging younger golfers into the sport, which is something that she holds in high esteem of the club.

"We really want to emphasize as a community we want to be a place that you can feel comfortable dropping your kid off at or bringing your family out here."

Coming into this year, another thing that members of the club are excited for is a facet of the MJT Tour, a junior tournament event.

"It's called the Order of Merit so we have that in May, as well we have our regular corporate tournaments that are always big deals for us and we have a couple new ones, the Conservative Party has booked an event with us, lots of fundraising and charity events with us so it'll be busy like it is every year."
