Missing kids have kept members of the Estevan Police Service busy over the past couple weeks, including two on Friday.

"A young male left St. Joseph's Hospital, he was there with a family member, and we couldn't find him for approximately 24 hours. But he was located and he was fine. He was returned to his parents and all is well," shared Sergeant Evan Handley.

"The young male late Friday afternoon was located safe and sound and returned to his parents as well. He was probably gone for about two hours."

Both males were around 12 years old. Members also tracked down and recovered a little girl on Sunday. Handley pointed out that kids in those situations must be found. In the recent cases, the importance is in the fact that they may think they've got a handle on what they're doing, but are really in way over their head.

In the event that a parent finds themselves in such a situation as a missing child, the Sergeant advises you to report it to your nearest police unit.

"It's good to have an updated photograph of your child. Know what they were wearing the last time you saw them. Cell phones are a wonderful thing nowadays, with social media it's easy to get lots of pictures out there. We can use social media to find your kid."

"Remain calm, if possible. I know it's hard to do, I've got two kids of my own, but remain calm. Gather all the details you can, and call the local police," he added.

"We've had quite a few (incidents) in the last couple weeks, actually. I don't know if it's spring, everybody wants to get outside, but it does happen quite a bit. We all know that we don't anyone to be missing for a long period of time."
