On July 10th, the Flood of 2016 devastated Estevan and left a lot of facilities, for a lack of a better term, broken. Most of them had to be fixed in record time for the Saskatchewan Summer Games, although one suffered the most: Affinity Place. However, after many repairs, Leisure Services has an announcement.

"The Affinity Place Ice Plant repairs are now completed from the flood of July 10th," exclaimed Leisure Services Manager, Nathan Jesse.

"As most people know, the ice plant in the lower level was under six feet of water, so we had to repair and replace pretty much everything." - Nathan Jesse, Leisure Services

According to Nathan, the ice plant has been running the Affinity Place for a month. Once everything was found to be in order, they shifted their focus on repairs for the ice plant in the Lignite Miners Centre (LMC).

"[The LMC's] rink is pretty much ready to go as of December 31st. We will have our first ice session in there, as we built the ice there throughout December," he added.

With that said, he's assuring the public that the ice is running more efficient than how it was earlier in the fall.
