SaskPower employees at the Boundary Dam Power Station have been kept busy with some scheduled maintenance and Plant downtime over the past couple weeks. This included the units and the Carbon Capture and Storage Facility.

"We actually coordinated a planned outage for both at the same time. Boundary Dam 3 was down for 6 or 7 days or so, and the Carbon Capture facility as well, for about 12 days as planned," shared Jonathan Tremblay with SaskPower.

"They were brought back up as planned about a week and a half ago. However, we did have some hiccups over this past weekend, where we did have to bring it down for a few hours just to check some fixes."

He added those were on both the CCS and power unit side, but were nothing major and will be quickly remedied.

"These are really the scheduled, routine maintenances that we try to do twice a year. That's going to be one to two weeks to inspect the entire process and clean it. We also do this on all of our power units in some way during the year, but for Boundary Dam 3 and the Carbon Capture Facility, it's twice a year."

The next scheduled outage for maintenance is expected for October.
