There is one group of people who are loving the hot weather the Southeast has been experiencing these last few weeks.

"Campers, they're absolutely loving this heat," explained Joan Adams, Park Manager for Moose Mountain Provincial Park. "The first two weeks of July called for really nice warm weather and that's exactly what campers want."

However, hot, dry conditions can sometimes hamper some of the fun of camping but Adams said that they haven't had any issues when it comes to fire.

"We have a new fire sign right at the entrance of the park and right now it is sitting at High. I did talk with the fire chief from the Village of Kenosee and they are monitoring that to see if it may go to Extreme. We've never had a ban here on campfires but if it goes that high, we may look at restricting campfires. But not at this point."

"We just ask people to make sure they are diligent with putting out their campfire when they are through with it."

She added that the lake is an excellent place for campers to cool off.

"The beach is just packed, there's so many people swimming and there's lots of boats out on the lake. And of course we have the water-slide park here. People like water based recreations so that's how they are keeping cool these days."

She also noted that the tent caterpillars are done for the year and they will be keeping a close eye on the next stage.

"What we see now are the cocoons and from those cocoons will emerge the moths that lay the eggs on the trees but we'll monitor that again next winter to see what kind of infestation we might expect next year and if it's going to be bad then we'll just ask to be on the spray program again which really helped this year."
