Some reckless driving resulted in the Estevan Police Service (EPS) investigating more than just a minor collision on Tuesday afternoon.
EPS members reported to a motor vehicle collision in front of a local business. Upon arrival, members discovered a significant amount of illegal substances and subsequently charged the driver with multiple offences under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs & Substances Act.
Joshua Roy Adams (24) of Corning, SK has been charged with:
- Driving while impaired by drugs
- Public mischief and;
- Possession of property obtained by crime
As the investigation progressed, further charges were also laid on Adams for:
- Possession of meth-amphetamine
- Possession of cannabis-marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and;
- Trafficking of cannabis-marijuana
"The street value of the contraband is estimated at approximately $3,000," stated Inspector Murray Cowen with the EPS. "The accused's vehicle has also been seized as offence-related property."
"Mr. Adams will be released on Wednesday, February 22nd on strict conditions and make his next court appearance on April 10th, 2017."
A second male from Kipling, SK is also being charged with public mischief in relation to the matter. His court appearance will be April 17th, 2017.
