A green initiative that originated in the province of Saskatchewan will be celebrated next month.

Carbon Capture Storage Technology is critical to securing the long term viability of sustainable coal production in Saskatchewan and around the world.

On May 11th the Estevan Chamber of Commerce is holding a one day Carbon Capture summit.

Participants will have the opportunity to tour the facility and engage in an afternoon of information sessions with leaders in the industry from SaskPower and Cenovus, as well as a presentation from the provincial government's Minister of the Environment, Scott Moe.

The Executive Director of the Chamber, Jackie Wall, encourages the public to take part in the summit.

"We want people to participate, and to really get some information on this technology, because the future of Carbon Capture looks very exciting and promising."

Wall added that the purpose is to educate and celebrate the technology that originated in Saskatchewan.

Attendees will learn how the carbon capture technology works, along with it's importance locally and globally. A reception will follow to discuss the day's events.

Registration is limited and will take place until May 1st.
