Snowmobiliers may have an easier time getting gas this winter after changes were proposed at last night's Police Board meeting.

"There's not a lot of changes to the snowmobile bylaw," explained Police Chief Paul Ladouceur.

The chair of the snowmobile association approached the Police Board asking for changes to be made ahead of their snowmobile rally so riders could have access to hotels and the Co-op gas station.

"The only change that we really made was to allow that to happen. The big change is where the line comes in along the Co-op. That line runs right through all the parking lots. What we've done is move that line to the edge of the roadway along Kensington in the ditch."

"What we had concerns with is there is a lot of vehicle traffic in those parking lots so to have snowmobiles coming and going all the time while vehicles are in that parking lot makes it a little more dangerous. it was found to be a better situation where they could come out and run that roadway right down to the Co-op to gas up and then go back out."

The proposal was approved at the Traffic Board meeting and will be sent to the next City Council meeting for discussion on October 1.
