It was a big year for the City of Estevan, especially when it came to construction projects around town, and local motorists will be the first to attest to the large number of projects undertaken.

From the City Engineer's perspective, a lot was accomplished.

"All the projects that we said would do, we have done. Now we are in the process of budgeting for next year," shared Kifloum Weldeab.

He said that the biggest job undertaken by crews was the rehabilitation and widening of King Street that took place over the summer.

"Next year we would like to continue rehabbing King Street. If there's time and money, there's always stuff to do, but we are trying to focus on renovating that, picking up where we left off at Pine, and we hope to go all the way to Kensington."

Weldeab added that, if time and money allow, more work may be attempted, such as water main replacements.

"The Council is focusing on making the city beautiful and functional for residents. Despite the economic downturn, they are pouring funds into making the city better, cleaner, greener and meeting the standards of the century."
