The south side of Estevan is under a boil water advisory following a major water main break on Perkins Street. Some residences near the break are currently without water, but the City said they're working on restoring that as quickly as possible.

City Water Division Manager Shane Bucsis said water should be running across the city, with the exception of some residences that are close to the break.

Workers are still digging at the location, so the severity of the break isn't known yet. Bucsis didn't want to put a timeline on when any residences without water would have things restored, but did say that the City is working to have the taps flowing "as soon as possible."

Bucsis said if the break is going to take a while to fix, they'll arrange for a temporary water supply for residents without water.

It will likely be a couple days before people under the water advisory can stop boiling their water before use.

"I understand people's frustration and inconvenience," Bucsis said. "We're focused on getting the boil water advisory lifted as soon as we can."

Once the water main is repaired, samples will need to be sent off for testing for a couple days before the advisory can be lifted.
