The cold temperatures experienced by the southeast this winter have kept local vehicle service businesses on their toes, or their "tows".

Ryan Seckinger is the owner of Xtreme Towing Ltd. in Estevan, and he shared about the effect that the weather has on their activity.

"The biggest thing that we see is an increase in boosts, as well as a lot more unlocks because people will go out to start their vehicle and find that their door is locked."

He noted, however, that the number of such incidents were lower during the last cold snap than previously this season.

"I think that all the snow that we had in December made people get their vehicle into the garage and get it checked out, and ensure that they're ready to go for winter."

He added that there were only a few incidents where they had to go winch someone out of a ditch.

Seckinger also revealed some tips to keep your car ready to go during extreme weather.

"Make sure that you have a winter front, and keep your vehicle plugged in. Also ensure that you have a safety kit and that sort of stuff with you as well."

"The biggest thing is that people need to slow down", he expressed.
