The first Police Board Meeting of the 2019 year started off with the swearing in of two new members, Michelle Graff, and Bernadette Wright. Each of the ladies was sworn in by Estevan's newest resident Judge Brass. After the ladies were sworn into office and taken their oaths the board members took a look at the numbers of 2018.

Chief of Police Paul Ladouceur, "Theft of motor vehicles increased 213%, 25 vehicles stolen as opposed to the prior year of 8 being stolen." Which is a significant increase, but a large majority of those vehicles were recovered. Ladouceur goes on to report, "When we see a decline in the economy, we tend to see some of those property thefts go up. So we will be keeping an eye on that as well. Good news we ended the year with a minus 11% in impaired drivings. overall. So we went from 2017 with 161, to 2018

with 143."

The Police are also stepping up property notices in relation to clearing off sidewalks for the safety of the residents. The police also saw an increase in animal calls over the past year.
