Abuse has been an issue in our province, Envision Counseling is seeking to help.

Christa Daku with Envision Counseling, "Women's Empowerment support group coming up in Estevan and Weyburn, the one in Estevan is going to be running on Tuesdays at 6:15 to 8:30 in the evenings starting on February 19th. This is an opportunity for women who have experienced abuse, in some form throughout their lifetime or presently dealing with the effects of abuse in their life. Its for them to just come together and to be heard by other women who are experiencing similar situations. Its all about finding empowerment and connection along the journey of healing. And we know with experience through our agency that it is very effective for women to come together and be able to draw on one another's strengths and support one another through their healing journey."

Daku adds more details about the course, "It's a weekly session that is going to be running for ten weeks, so there is a commitment involved but its well worth it. There is a screening process involved so we know it will be beneficial for the women to attend the group. They will meet with a counselor and go through a bit of an interview and a bit of relationship building and then be put into the group if it fits."

Daku encourages the women out there to get the support they need, "Sometimes there is a bit of hesitation in reaching out because of the fear of the unknown, it's simply a safe place to come together to build a connection with people who have been through similar experiences. Explore growth in self-esteem, boundaries, and coping strategies."
