The Estevan Police Service has released the full details on a pair of incidents that took place over the course of Monday night into Tuesday morning.

In one instance, two were charged with possession of cocaine after a routine traffic stop. One male was released on conditions for a court appearance while the other was held. The second male had previous charges of trafficking and weapons offences.

"When the police stopped that vehicle they recognized the one male subject in the vehicle, " explained Deputy Police Chief Murray Cowan. "He was on conditions which included a search clause and that's in relation to previous possession and trafficking charges. He is looking at further possession charges as well as breaching his conditions in relation to his previous charges."

"He was taken into custody and was given the circumstances surrounding this incident. There was no court in Estevan on Tuesday, so he was transported to Weyburn where he will make his appearance. They will be considering whether they remand him into custody or release him on further conditions."

On top of those charges, police also arrested an impaired driver at around 1:20 a.m.

"I know Chief Ladouceur has made comments with respect to how we have received a lot of help from the community in relation to our fight against impaired driving, and that was the case in this situation where someone reported this person and led to them being arrested for impaired driving."

"He refused to provide breath samples so he is looking at charges for refusal and straight forward impaired driving charges," Cowan concluded.

For those unaware, the report impaired drivers program encourages the public to call 911 if they see a driver they suspect is impaired.
