A driver, mistakenly thinking that Kensington Ave was the Motor Speedway was recently pulled over for going nearly twice the speed limit.

"He turned out there," shared Sgt Tyler McMillan, "did some fishtailing and accelerated very, very quickly southbound on Kensington. He was clocked at 98km/hr."

He was pulled over and issued a $776 ticket.

"Hopefully, he learned his lesson because that was awful fast."

Last night, the weather kept most of the excitement down as the Estevan Police Service reported a rather quiet night.

"We were out and about, we checked some residential areas."

Police also conducted a well-being check after a call came in concerned about a friend. He was found later at an alternate location.

"We did several curfew checks. There were some people who were given permission to be away for the weekend and their conditions said they were supposed to be back in town so we wanted to verify that they were complying and back in town, and everybody was."

"All in all, it was a pretty good night and no major issues."
