After a cold week, we saw a few instances of burglar alarms being tripped from low batteries or from the cold shifting the buildings, and the Estevan Police Service responded to all of them. Now that the cold spell is over, the EPS is responding to the real deal.

"Members responded to a break and enter at a downtown business on the 1200 block of fourth street," says Seargant Evan Handley. "On arrival, members located a male individual who was arrested for break and enter and mischief."

The male's charges are pending as he is being held by the EPS. While the alarms have been set off recently from the cold, they functioned properly this time around, but the public was able to inform the police before the alarms even went off.

"We want to thank the public, it was a member of the public who called in before the alarm companies, and we're very happy to hear that. We just want to thank everyone for keeping an eye out for their neighbours and for the community. We need your guy's help and we truly do thank the people that take the time to call in and let us know what's happening out there."

As well, the EPS checked a few different homes for their usual curfew checks, and found one woman was not in her home.

"She is a arrest-able at this point in time and a warrant will be sought for her arrest. Once located, she'll be held for court."
