With back to school around the corner, The Estevan Police Service is urging drivers to slow down.

"Police obviously spend quite a bit of time monitoring the speed zones and the school zones in Estevan," shared Cst Lana Gropp with the EPS, "especially in early Septemeber."

"We would like drivers to be aware that there is going to be lots of children making their way to school excited and maybe don't notice the crosswalks and run into the street without looking."

She added that children don't always realize just how fast car travel along the street, even within school zones.

"We advise all our drivers to stop completely at stop signs, make sure they look both ways for children, and slow down in the school zones. We need to ensure that our children arrive safely at school. We ask just to ensure that you're watching for children along the sidewalks, watching to see if they come out between cars."
