It was a relatively quiet night or the Estevan Police Service. They dealt with one minor accident and then patrolled the streets for drivers either speeding or using their cellphones while driving.

One area of concern that Sgt Craig Brid shared was a report of a scam phone call from someone claiming to be from Stats Canada.

"They come and go in spurts. A lot of the frauds we've been getting revolve around the STARS lottery or Revenue Canada."

He added that Revenue Canada will never ask for your personal information and do not accept iTunes cards or money orders.

"We've also had a few where people call and say you're computer has a virus, we need a bunch of money and we'll clean up these viruses."

He advises that if you receive a suspicious phone call or email, call the institution directly. If you do owe taxes, you can deal with that over the official Canada Revenue Agency's website or call them directly as well.
