The group from Estevan Alliance Church left on August 17 for a ten day long missions trip to Tactic, Guatemala.

"When volunteer groups go there, they're usually involved in some construction work," explained Sharon Rae, a member of the Estevan Alliance Church who has gone on previous missions trips with the local church. "That could be digging ditches, or mixing cement, painting, you name it."

"They will be doing hospital visits to the new moms that have babies and give little care packages to them. It's just some little newborn diapers, and a onesie, maybe a little stuffed toy for the baby and they usually take along hotel shampoos and conditions, body lotion and put some of those in the packs."

The group also meet with mothers who have lost their baby or decided to put them up for adoption.

"They have a different kind of a care package for them because they are mourning, one way or the other, but just to know that they're cared for and loved by someone."

"And they usually make some time for those that have sponsor  children to make a visit to their sponsor children."

The group is going in partnership with Impact Ministries  who have been in the region for many years building schools along with a greenhouse which provides food for their school meals. There is also a medical clinic with dental care.
