Estevan is open for business. At least, that is what the Estevan Chamber of Commerce has found.

"We just did a survey and we got some feedback from the business community," explained Executive Directer, Jackie Wall, "and overall, they feel that the community is stable or actually improving within the business community."

With all the negative publicity on how hard hit the economy in the province has been, she adds that it was a pleasant surprise.

"Overall, the comments were positive and that the economy is either stable or improving so that was fantastic to hear."

The Estevan Chamber of Commerce held a Carbon Capture Summit on May 11, 2017 which drew a great crowd.

"All the feedback from the Carbon Capture Summit was positive. The information that was presented was second to none, it was world-class information. We had delegates from across the province we had great representation from some of the top minds in carbon capture technology and the science that goes behind this. It was fantastic to come together and celebrate such a success in Estevan's backyard."

And as to not lose the momentum built up form the event, Wall goes on to explain that the Chamber is in the planning stages of another large event.

"We're getting feedback on everything and it looks like we will be doing some kind of seminar in 2018. We have not exactly finalized what that will be. We would love some feedback from the community on what they would like to see as far as a conference or a seminar for 2018 and we're working on that right now."

The Chamber is also getting ready to send out nomination packages later this week for the bi-annual Estevan Business Excellence Awards which will be held on October 20, 2017.
