The Estevan Humane Society has had an overwhelming amount of cats come into the shelter this year.

"We ran our Meow-vember promotion and we were able to adopt out quite a few cats and we have ran it for the half of December. We increased the number of cats going out of the building rather than the number of cats going into the building, which is really good," stated Sherri Lukye-Horrocks with the Estevan Humane Society.

The Humane Society has hosted numerous events to help with adoption promotion.

"We ran our Whiskers and Wine Gala for the first time this year and of course you have the little glitches when you first try something the first time," she shared.

"We will be looking into doing another Gala next year, it wasn't majorly profitable but it was something that the public enjoyed. We definitely enjoyed hosting the Whiskers and Wine Gala. The public was very helpful in donations and stuff towards it because it was paintings and photography. Next year we look forward to running that again."

The Humane Society is always looking for volunteers to help take care of the animals.

"We just want to please the public as well in allowing them to participate in volunteer work, donations and we appreciate everything the public does for us. The City of Estevan and all of the surrounding areas are very helpful in providing us with funds. We just want to keep our doors open to the public and let them know that we appreciate everything that they do for us."
