Just after 12:30 p.m. crews continue to work on the blaze at the old Sandjel building on the north side of the city. The fire has been under control since mid-morning but smoke continued to billow out near the top of the building. Crews were rearranging the fire trucks on scene to allow the ladder truck to have access to the attic. Structural damage inside provided to much risk for fighters to go up insde.

Fire Chief Dale Feser issued some statements on behalf of the Estevan Fire Deperatment.

"The fire is still under investigation. It was shortly after 8:00 this morning we were alerted to a structure fire at 901 Victoria Avenue. The building is unoccupied and nobody suffered any injuries as a result. Crews were able to make a pretty aggressive attack," he said.

The wintery conditions did provide a few challenges on another frosty morning in Estevan.

"Crews are taking turns warming up in the shacks. The cold weather is defenitely hampering operations here a little bit. We had some water supply issues, but we were able to easily overcome them," Feser said. "The City of Estevan Water and Sewer crews jumped into action right away to assist us with that. We can't thank thm enough for getting the hydrant back up and running."

They are asking the public to respect the barricades and stay back as they continue to work and put the fire out. It is unknown how long crews will continue to work.
