The city of Estevan has announced their first concert of 2019 coming to Estevan. Fox Brook, Pictou County Nova Scotia's own George Canyon is coming to Affinity Place set for May 11th with tickets going on sale for this coming Friday. It will be the second time George Canyon has played in Estevan, the first being at the Festival of Trees in 2014.

The concert will have different kinds of tickets for sale compared to the last couple we've seen in Estevan. There will be rush seating available for the lower bowl at Affinity Place, so you can buy your ticket and sit wherever is available for anyone looking to attend the concert. As for the floor, that is reserved for people 19 years or older and will also be rush seating, so the earlier you get to the concert, the better seats you will have regardless of what you pay.

Canyon is about as down to earth as you'll get from a country singer. A former slaughterhouse beef inspector, a former bylaw officer, and a Colonel Commandant with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, Canyon also owns his own recording studio and his last 7 straight albums have all been nominated for Canadian Country Music Association awards, which he won seven between 2004-06. His album 'One Good Friend' won a Juno award in 2005, and another in 2007 for 'Somebody Wrote Love', both for Country Recording of the Year.

He even has a bit of an acting career, appearing as the head park ranger in Canadian Cult Classic Trailer Park Boys, and is best known for being the anthem singer for the Calgary Flames.

As well, the Canadian Country Icon is bringing a great group of Canadian musicians with him. Another Juno and CCMA perennial nominee and winner Doc Walker is coming in to town for their first visit to Estevan. Charlie Major will be joining them on stage, as well as a newcomer to the country scene Manny Blu, who is yet to release his debut EP later this spring.

For more updates, listen in to the radio at 8:20 Tuesday morning when City Manager Jeff Ward comes in to speak about more details of the concert.
