Golden West Broadcasting, the parent company of Sun 102, Rock 106 and CJ1150 reaffirmed their commitment to the community on Thursday, as they presented the Estevan Comprehensive School's band program with a $2,000 cheque.

"This is a great donation. It allows us to purchase new music equipment for the band programs," stated Kyle Whitehead, the ECS Band Teacher.

"We try and reserve a part of it to purchase music created by Canadian composers and such."

He noted that, while the students are now finishing exams and preparing for summer they won't be performing, they will be back in full form come fall.

"They will continue to perform at the different Bruins games throughout their season. We will have spring concerts, music festivals, and a trip again. It's going to be a full year."

Melissa Deitz, the Station and Sales Manager at Golden West Broadcasting's Estevan location was also pleased to be able to support the group.

"Part of our commitment to local communities is to support and encourage local music, and we are delighted when we can help local organizations develop and promote musical talent."

"We look forward to hearing the students perform. They certainly are a very gifted group of young people," she added.
