This is the first ever build for the Estevan Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

Good progress is being made on Estevan's Habitat for Humanity build.

"We've got the basement framed up," explained Chairman of the Steering Committee, Doug Barnstable. "The sub-floor put on, we put the walls on the main floor and all the interior partitions and we put the trusses up on the house itself."

"We're hoping to get doors and windows in within a week. Once we can get things closed in and get some shingles on, we'll likely do the doors and windows and the house wrap. There's lots to do."

"SaskEngergy put in our gas line last week and we'll get water and sewer this week."

Power is expected to be roughed in by the end of the month.

"We've still got the garage to add on and the piles required for that. We'll be sheeting the roof on the portion we have trusses on and see where things go from there."

The organizers and volunteers are happy with the headway they have made.

"We're doing pretty good on our timeline, you always think you could do it quicker sometimes. It's looking good and we're pleased with what the progress has been and we're looking forward ot continuing on."

"We're calling volunteers as we need them. On the framing side of it, mostly we've been using about four or five that have been coming consistently. A crew bigger than that is not really too productive. But once we get in to the interior work, then we'll have some more involvement with volunteers."
