Vital communication is a big part of our community and many areas within the energy city are gathering together to see where updates are needed.

The Estevan Public Library hosted a recent community talk alongside the Humane Society. Elizabeth Murphy-Dryden Manager of the Estevan Humane Society, "We hosted one of the Southeast Saskatchewan Vital Community Talks, the attendance wasn't great. But we assumed it was because of the wonderful weather we were having that day. It was just a small group of people but we ended up having a really great discussion about how the Humane Society is a big part of our community and how we can reach out to the community and get their input on what they would like to see at the shelter. So it was really good and we got a lot of input that way."

"The main thing we discussed is just ways to educate the public, you know on responsible pet ownership. And ways to get more people down to the shelter, ways to get volunteers and more donations, and just keeping us in business."

Elizabeth had this to add, "We're always looking for volunteers now that the weather is a little bit nicer, you know we would love to have people come down and give the dogs walks. Just to get them out of the shelter and enjoy some of the nice weather they have been having."

The shelter is also going through some construction with their drains in the dog kennels. During that time some locals have stepped up to foster the dogs during the time of construction.
