The Estevan Fire Hall is hosting an ICS-300 Course [Incident Command System] that began yesterday[Thursday] and is finishing on Saturday. "Last month we ran an ICS-200 and the ICS-100 you can write online," explained Helen Fornwald, emo co-ordinator for the City of Estevan. "so what we like is emergency services and anyone dealing with emergency services and incidents or scenes that take this kind of training, so we are all speaking the same language and that's across the province. So it doesn't matter if you're here or in Regina or another place in Saskatchewan when you take this training and you're at an event or disaster, that we're all speaking the same language and we understand the structure."

The Saskatchewan Public Saftey Division sent a few instructors down from the North to teach the course, so it's not only people from Estevan attending the course but also people from around the province. The course is more geared towards large scale incidents such as major plane crashed or an incident such as the Humboldt crash. The larger the scale the more resources are required a and there's a structure to follow Incident Command stating with the top Incident Command and taking direction and things like that.

"This course is only ever offered in Regina or Saskatoon so we are very fortunate to have it in rural Saskatchewan if you'll have it, in Estevan to service southeast Saskatchewan. It's really nice that they were able to have it here and maybe down the road we can have a 400 here too."
