According to a media release from the Saskatchewan RCMP, an investigation beginning back in April has resulted in five people, including an Estevan man, being served with a number of drug trafficking-related charges.

Adam Mohamed Elmi of Estevan is facing 8 charges including trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, possession of a restricted weapon, and possession of a restricted weapon while prohibited.

The other four involved in the charges include two men from Edmonton and a male and a female from Ile-a-la-Crosse.

"The information learned during the investigation led to a search warrant of the residence and when the residence was searched, several items of substance was located including 112 grams of crack cocaine which was already packaged for distribution," says RCMP Corporal Rob King.

Since the different people involved are from such a large area, one being a large Canadian centre and the other being our city that's so close to the border, it's unknown which direction the drugs were heading, but the RCMP are hopeful that further investigation from the arrests will reveal that information.

Besides the 112 grams of packaged crack cocaine, another 30 grams of an unidentified white powder, 10,000 dollars in Canadian currency, a loaded .45 calibre handgun, numerous cell phones, and an electronic scale.

All persons charged will appearance in Provincial court on Wednesday June 26th in Ile-a-la Crosse Saskatchewan to answer to the charges.
