Weather continued to be a hot button topic throughout the month of July with a variety of conditions hitting southeast Saskatchewan.

Tornado and thunderstorm watches/warnings were almost a regular occurrence to start the month. Smoke plumes from the BC wildfires then made their way into the province resulting in an air quality statement.

But the two continuous condition's to make their presence felt was the dry and hot weather.

"Estevan saw around 21 mm of precipitation which would make it the 17th driest out of 104 years of records in the Estevan area," said Environment Canada's John Paul Cragg. "It was definitely well below average in terms of precipitation in the southeast."

Driest July's On Record For Estevan In Millimeters

While it wasn't the driest July on record in the Energy City, it was slightly warmer than normal.

"The daily minimum was only .5 degrees warmer than average, while the daily maximum was 2 degrees warmer than average."

"The humidex has to do with the humidity and temperature in the air and combined it calculates what the temperature feels like outside. Its been pretty dry this July and therefore the humidex hasn't been overly high for the month give or take a few days. On the 30th, Estevan got up to 34 with a humidex close to 40."

Cragg mentioned that average to below average temperatures can be expected during the first week and a half in August.
